The 2023 Wimbledon live streams continue today, with Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal against Andrey Rublev. On the women's side, defending champ Elena Rybakina already advanced to the quarter-final.
The world's best tennis players have hit the grass courts at the All England Tennis Club for the 136th edition of the Wimbledon Championships.
Djokovic beat Pedro Cachin in round 1, and took out Jordan Thompson in round 2. A tournament win would break his own record, with a 24th Grand Slam title. He'll have to get past No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz, as well as tough young gun Daniil Medvedev — both of whom advanced to the quarter-finals.
Fresh off her victory at the French Open, women's No. 1 Iga Swiatek hopes to make it two in a row, despite never making it past the fourth round at Wimbledon. Defending champ Rybakina is a dangerous foe at No. 3, as is No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka. All three women are still in the tournament.
The Wimbledon quarter-finals begin today as Novak Djokovic continues his bid for an eighth title while Iga Swiatek faces Elina Svitolina
Djokovic is in action for the third day in a row after his fourth-round match against Hubert Hurkacz was suspended due to the Wimbledon curfew on Sunday night. The 36-year-old, who questioned Wimbledon’s scheduling after eventually beating Hurkacz on Monday, plays seventh seed Andrey Rublev as he looks for his 33rd consecutive win at the Championships.
World No 1 Swiatek features in the earlier match on Centre Court, but the home crowd are likely to support the Ukrainian wildcard Svitolina after her stunning victory over Victoria Azarenka. Although the three-set thriller was overshadowed by Azarenka being booed off the court, Svitolina is enjoying an inspired run at the All England Club but faces a tough test in Swiatek.
Last night, Carlos Alcaraz battled past former runner-up Matteo Berrettini, setting up a match with Holger Rune. Defending champion Elena Rybakina will face Ons Jabeur in the women’s quarter-finals in a rematch of last year’s final, after the Tunisian beat Petra Kvitova in straight sets.
Serbia’s World No. 2 Novak Djokovic will be facing Russian, Andrey Rublev, in the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon today. Djokovic would be hoping for a deep run in the tournament. On the other hand, Rublev would be hoping to put on a show against the 23-time Grand Slam champion. The Serb is coming off a win over Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, whereas the Russian pulled off a stunning win over Alexander Bublik in a thrilling 5-set encounter.
Djokovic defeated the 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz in a tricky 4-set encounter. The score line of the match was 7-6, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4. The Serbian had earlier beaten his old rival and 3-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka before this match in straight sets with the score line 6-3, 6-1, 7-6. Djokovic will be aiming for a record-equaling 8th Wimbledon and would fancy his chances against the world number 7.
Andrey Rublev, on the other hand, beat Alexander Bublik in a 5-set thriller to secure his place in the quarter-finals. The 2023 Monte Carlo Masters champion won the encounter with the score line of 7-5, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4. Rublev defeated the likes of David Goffin and fellow countryman, Aslan Karatsev, in his journey so far at SW19. The Russian has reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the first time. He would be hoping to put on a show against the World No. 2.
