Can giantkiller Eubanks knock out the third seed at SW19?

Daniil Medvedev doesn't seem to be many tennis fans' cup of tea, but the 27-year-old has got the game to beat the best in the business. Fiery on court but friendly off it, the 2021 US Open champion has made relatively serene progress into the Wimbledon quarter-finals, dropping his only set of the tournament against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the third round.

A classic counterpuncher with long, whippy groundstrokes that skid off the grass of SW19, thanks to less spin than many contemporaries, Medvedev has reached the last eight at the All England Club for the first time in his career and may never have a better chance to reach a semi-final – something that could bring its own pressure.

Christopher Eubanks' story is as good as his play has been at the Championship for the past week and a half. Eubanks had almost given up on a career as a top professional, becoming fellow American Donald Young's travelling hitting partner, before eventually vowing to give it one last go. Boy, has it worked.

Now at a career-high world ranking of 43, the 27-year-old has reached his first grand slam quarter-final a month after labelling grass "the stupidest surface" in the sport after his second round exit in the Surbiton Trophy in the Challenger Tour, one level below the ATP.

Eubanks has since gone on to win the Mallorca Open on the green stuff earlier – his first title on the main ATP Tour – and his languid shotmaking and stellar serve has brought nine wins in a row on grass. Averaging a greater percentage of winners than any other player in the tournament, Eubanks has knocked out British hopeful Cam Norrie and Andy Murray-conqueror Stefanos Tsitsipas already. He couldn't again, could he? At worst, Eubanks has a puncher's chance.

Medvedev and Eubanks have met just once previously, the Russian winning in straight sets in the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters earlier this year. Make sure to catch all the Wimbledon action by tuning into a Medvedev vs Eubanks live stream. Scroll down for details.

Christopher Eubanks caused one of the biggest surprises in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2023. Despite his previous victory against Cameron Norris, who is ranked number 12 in the world, Eubanks‘ outstanding performance against Stephanos Tsitsipas was truly unexpected.

Now that he has showcased his abilities, Eubanks aims to achieve even more by defeating another top contender. Daniil Medvedev has had a smooth journey to the quarterfinals, winning all of his matches with relative ease. However, he will now face with his toughest challenge.

Playing their first quarter-final matches in the Wimbledon championships, the former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev will take on the American sensation and grass court specialist Christopher Eubanks. Both players, eager to make their mark on this prestigious tournament, are set to deliver an epic battle that promises to captivate audiences around the world.

The Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev advanced to his first-ever Wimbledon quarter-finals after his round of 16 opponent Jiri Lehecka withdrew from the match midway due to an injury. The Russian was leading the match 6-4, 4-2 during that time. Apart from a set lost against Marton Fucsovics in the third round, the Russian looked in good control of the matches throughout the championships.

The 27-year-old American Christopher Eubanks sank the Greek ship Stefanos Tsitsipas in the pre-quarterfinals in a five-set thriller. The final score was 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The American came into the tournament in red hot form winning the preparatory grass court tournament in Mallorca but beating the World No.5 in best of five sets was against all the odds. It will be interesting to see how the American can capitalize on the confidence gained in future rounds.
